Parkway Ash Tree Replacement Program

Parkway Ash Tree Replacement Program

  • Phase: Replacements in progress
  • Location: Citywide
  • Start Date: Spring 2014
  • Completion Date: 2020 (estimated)
  • Estimated Project Cost: $1,339,500

The City Council is funding a six-year plan to replace all parkway ash trees with new trees, as long as the sites are deemed suitable for replanting. The Forestry Division has developed an Urban Reforestation Policy (PDF) to guide the process and ensure a diverse parkway tree population throughout the city.

If you don't want to wait until a new tree is planted through this program, you are able to plant one yourself if you apply for a No-Cost Permit (PDF) and receive approval from the Forestry Superintendent.
