Wheaton residents receive curbside garbage, yard waste, and recycling pickup service through LRS (formerly referred to as Lakeshore Recycling Systems). The program uses garbage and recycling carts that are picked up and electronically scanned by LRS’s trucks. You are charged each time your garbage and recycling carts are picked up and scanned, so you only pay for the amount of waste you produce. The only types of items that require a sticker are yard waste/leaves/organics, garbage that won’t fit in your cart, electronics, and bulk items.
If you have a problem related to your garbage and recycling service, please contact LRS at 773-685-8811.
Wheaton is divided into five pickup days, Monday through Friday. If you are unsure of your pickup day, see the Garbage Day Map (PDF).
Place your garbage, recycling, and yard waste at the curb between 7 p.m. the night before collection and 6 a.m. the day of collection. Please remove your containers by 7 p.m. on your collection day.
