The following items are required submittals:
- Plat of Survey indicating structures to be demolished
- Grading Plan for vacant site restoration within 45 days
- Tree Preservation Plan and details
- Traffic Control Plan
- Stormwater Management Application
- Adjacent Property Owners Notification Form (PDF)
Additional items required prior to issuance:
- Asbestos Inspection Report, including the Asbestos Inspector’s State of Illinois license and an Asbestos Removal Plan and Lab Report (if asbestos is present)
- IEPA Asbestos Demolition Form (PDF)
- Signed Intent for Recycling of Construction Debris Form (PDF)
- Particulate Control Acknowledgment Form (PDF)
- Utility Disconnect Form
- Pick up Demolition Date Signs from the Building Department to post on site
- Schedule Water Meter Disconnect with the Water Department at 630-260-2090
- Schedule Temporary Sewer & Water Disconnects with the Engineering Department at 630-260-2040
- Schedule a Pre-Permit Site Inspection once all the above have been submitted and approved
The following items are only required if the indicated features are present:
- County Well Abandonment Certification
- Receipt for septic tank pumping

Pre-Permit Site Inspection Requirements:
- 6’ chain-link construction fence, gate, and lock around the entire property.
- Silt fencing installed per the approved engineering plan.
- Tree protection was installed per the approved tree preservation plan.
- Portable toilet on-site in the proper location.
- Date signs posted.
Demolition Inspection Requirements:
- To be performed each day of the demolition process.
- Site to be watered as required per ordinance.
- Traffic is to adhere to the submitted traffic control plan.
- No mud or debris allowed on City streets.
- Public sidewalks are clear of obstructions or mud/debris.
Post-Demolition Inspection Requirements:
- All debris must be removed from the site.
- For sites that are to be left open, the following must be done within 60 days:
- The site must be final graded.
- Sod/seed must be in place and growing.
- All construction fencing and silt fencing must be removed.
- All abandoned drive approaches must be removed and curb lines restored.
- All damaged public walks must be replaced.
- All utility disconnections and parkway restoration must be completed,
- For sites that will be developed, construction on the new structure must be underway within 30 days; otherwise, the site must be restored to a vegetative state within 45 days.
To request a refund of your Demolition Bond and Stormwater Deposit:
- Demolition bond is refundable by written request after the structure is demoed, the foundation is in the ground, and rough grading is completed.
- Stormwater Deposit is refundable by written request when the project is complete and the grass is growing.
