Contractor Requirements

State-licensed contractors that work within the City of Wheaton shall remain valid until the expiration of the State license. A copy of the required license shall be provided with each permit submittal.

Table A - Contractor Requirements

Electrical

  1. Provide a current license or current registration form from another community.

Elevator Contractor

  1. Provide a copy of the State Elevator Contractor License.

Work in City Right-of-Way
Including but not limited to Excavation, Sewer & Water, Drive Approach, Sidewalk, and Roadway

  1. Provide $10,000 surety bond.
  2. Provide $1,000,000 certificate of insurance.
  3. Provide a copy of Plumbing Contractors Registration (PCR). (For Sewer & Water Contractors).
  4. Letter of Intent (LOI) (if applicable).
 

Plumbing

  1. Provide a copy of the State Plumbing Contractors Registration (PCR).
  2. Letter of Intent (LOI) (if applicable).

Roofing

  1. Provide a copy of the State Roofer’s License.

Fire Alarm

  1. Provide a copy of the State Fire Alarm License or a copy of the Electrical License.

Fire Sprinkler/Distribution

  1. Provide a copy of the State issued Fire Sprinkler/Distribution License.

Lawn Irrigation

  1. Provide a copy of the State Lawn Irrigation Certificate.
  2. Provide Plumbing Contractors Registration (PCR) License.
  3. Provide $1,000,000 certificate of insurance.

Bond (where applicable):

  1. Bond number shall be provided.
  2. Obligee shall be “City of Wheaton”.
  3. Type of Contractor shall be identified (i.e., Sewer & Water, Excavator, Concrete/Asphalt).
  4. Signature of Principal shall be provided (authorized individual of the company registering to do business in the City of Wheaton).
  5. Insurance or Bond Company shall prepare all bonds, self-issued bonds are not accepted.
  6. When bonds and insurance certificates are faxed, hard copies shall be mailed or delivered shortly thereafter.

Certificate of Insurance (where applicable):

  1. “City of Wheaton” shall be named as “additional insured” and “certificate holder”.
  2. “Written contracts” or “Agreements” shall not be referenced.
  3. Project address shall not be identified.
  4. Shall be a Commercial General Liability Policy, not a Business Owners Policy.
