Contractor Requirements
State-licensed contractors that work within the City of Wheaton shall remain valid until the expiration of the State license. A copy of the required license shall be provided with each permit submittal.
Table A - Contractor Requirements
Electrical
- Provide a current license or current registration form from another community.
Elevator Contractor
- Provide a copy of the State Elevator Contractor License.
Work in City Right-of-Way
Including but not limited to Excavation, Sewer & Water, Drive Approach, Sidewalk, and Roadway
- Provide $10,000 surety bond.
- Provide $1,000,000 certificate of insurance.
- Provide a copy of Plumbing Contractors Registration (PCR). (For Sewer & Water Contractors).
- Letter of Intent (LOI) (if applicable).
Plumbing
- Provide a copy of the State Plumbing Contractors Registration (PCR).
- Letter of Intent (LOI) (if applicable).
Roofing
- Provide a copy of the State Roofer’s License.
Fire Alarm
- Provide a copy of the State Fire Alarm License or a copy of the Electrical License.
Fire Sprinkler/Distribution
- Provide a copy of the State issued Fire Sprinkler/Distribution License.
Lawn Irrigation
- Provide a copy of the State Lawn Irrigation Certificate.
- Provide Plumbing Contractors Registration (PCR) License.
- Provide $1,000,000 certificate of insurance.
Bond (where applicable):
- Bond number shall be provided.
- Obligee shall be “City of Wheaton”.
- Type of Contractor shall be identified (i.e., Sewer & Water, Excavator, Concrete/Asphalt).
- Signature of Principal shall be provided (authorized individual of the company registering to do business in the City of Wheaton).
- Insurance or Bond Company shall prepare all bonds, self-issued bonds are not accepted.
- When bonds and insurance certificates are faxed, hard copies shall be mailed or delivered shortly thereafter.
Certificate of Insurance (where applicable):
- “City of Wheaton” shall be named as “additional insured” and “certificate holder”.
- “Written contracts” or “Agreements” shall not be referenced.
- Project address shall not be identified.
- Shall be a Commercial General Liability Policy, not a Business Owners Policy.
