Public Works crews worked overnight to continuously clear roads and spread pretreated salt on City streets. All streets have been plowed, however drifting snow from heavy winds has created a thin layer of packed snow in many areas.
Today crews will continue scraping any loose snow, pushing back drifts and salting roads. Below-zero temperatures will prevent salt from properly melting snow, so we expect some snow to remain on many roads.
The National Weather Service’s Winter Storm Warning continues through 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, with expected wind gusts up to 50 mph and wind chills of -30 to -40 degrees. If you must travel today, please use caution, keep extra distance between your vehicle and others, and give plows room to do their job.
