Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8)

The DuPage Housing Authority offers a housing choice voucher program that is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments. Housing and Rental Assistance

Illinois Department of Human Rights Fair Housing Division

The Illinois Department of Human Rights takes and investigates charges of discrimination involving real estate transactions (rentals, sales, and other transactions) involving residential and commercial real property. The Department also conducts education and outreach activities for home seekers, landlords, property owners, advertisers, and community organizations. In pursuing these activities, the Department works in partnership with other governmental entities and private organizations. Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act protects people from discrimination when they are renting, buying, or securing financing for any housing. The prohibitions specifically cover discrimination because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and the presence of children.
