Garbage & Recycling

The City of Wheaton now offers information through the Recycle Coach app and website. You can use the links below to get the app or explore the information provided about what you can/can't recycle and other recycling opportunities.

Wheaton residents receive curbside garbage, yard waste and recycling pickup service through LRS. The program uses garbage and recycling carts that are picked up and then electronically scanned by LRS’s trucks. You are only charged each time your garbage and recycling carts are picked up and scanned, so you only pay for the amount of waste you generate (known as a "Pay-As-You-Throw" program).

LRS stickers are required for yard waste, leaves, organics (food scraps and plant materials), garbage that won’t fit in your cart, electronics, and bulk items.

Garbage/Recycling Cart Information

Residents must use the garbage and recycling carts provided by LRS. Each cart has an embedded Radio Frequency Identification tag that is linked to an account. When the hauler's trucks pick up the carts to empty them, the truck wirelessly scans the tag and bills your account.

If you move, the recycling and garbage carts must stay with the house.
