Wheaton’s Bicyclist and Pedestrian Commission thanks the 470 people who responded to their recent survey about biking and walking in Wheaton, which will help guide the commission’s work to educate the community on bike safety and improve riding conditions in Wheaton.
Congratulations to the four winners of LED bike helmets: Tom Kotlarczyk, Lisa Berkley, Edward Starzynski and Jane Cox.
Some results from the survey that were especially helpful to the commission included:
- 24% of survey respondents didn’t know about the pedestrian tunnel at Wheaton Avenue and Roosevelt Road. The commission was glad to help educate our community about the newest improvement to biking in Wheaton!
- 42% of survey respondents already knew about the new downtown bike shelter downtown. The commission was glad to inform the rest of survey participants about this new feature of the City’s Downtown Streetscape Project.
- Over 50% of participants said you’d be interested in joining the commission on Group Walks. They have added some Group Walks to their calendar.
Be sure to save the date for the Famous Women of Wheaton History Ride on Sept. 16 from 2-4 p.m. (the rain date is Sept. 23). The commission hopes to see many residents on this popular annual ride.
Feel free to contact the commission at firstname.lastname@example.org at any time for questions or suggestions.
