Manchester Road between Dorchester Avenue and Gables Boulevard will be temporarily closed while the Wheaton Sanitary District installs a new sewer main as part of the Northside Interceptor Project. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 12 and is expected to last approximately two weeks.
Drivers should use the following detour:
- Westbound traffic will detour down Gables Boulevard to Childs Street to Woodlawn Street
- Eastbound traffic will detour down Dorchester Avenue to Childs Street to Gables Boulevard
During the work, detour signs will be in place to direct traffic, and affected residents along the route will have access to their driveways at the end of each day. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and may choose to alter their travel route to avoid these areas.
This work is part of the Wheaton Sanitary District’s Northside Interceptor Project, a multi-year project to replace sewer pipes in the area. The Wheaton Sanitary District is a separate entity from the City of Wheaton that provides sewerage treatment for a substantial part of Wheaton.
