[ARCHIVED] Temporary Road Closures for 2023 Memorial Day Parade on May 29

memorial day parade

The 2023 Memorial Day Parade will take place on May 29, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at Union Avenue and Hale Street, proceeding west on Union, turning south on West Street, and ending at the Wheaton Cemetery.

During the parade, the Wheaton Police Department, with the cooperation and assistance of the Milton Township Highway Department, will temporarily modify the traffic pattern on Warrenville Road from Wheaton Cemetery/Merrill and Warrenville Road to Orchard Road from two-way to only one way southbound.

This condition will exist for approximately two and a half hours (9:30 a.m. until noon).

The following streets will be closed to traffic:

  • Union Avenue, between Hale Street and West Street
  • West Street, between Union Avenue and Warrenville Road
  • Concluding at Wheaton Cemetery (on Warrenville Road)

During the event, these streets will be adequately staffed with uniformed Police Officers to assist and direct traffic. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and may choose to alter their travel route to avoid these areas.

The Wheaton Memorial Parade is led by American Legion Post 76. For more information about participating in the parade, see the American Legion Post 76 website.
