[ARCHIVED] City of Wheaton Police Chief Takes New Position with College of DuPage

Volpe1 (1)

City of Wheaton City Manager Mike Dzugan announced today that Police Chief James Volpe will be leaving the city on June 24, 2018, to pursue an opportunity with the College of DuPage.

City Manager Dzugan stated, “I have had the honor of working with Chief Volpe for more than 25 years here in Wheaton, and although he will be missed by our staff and our residents, we are happy for him and his family, as he has been presented with an opportunity that will keep him close to our community.”

Chief Volpe has been a member of the Wheaton Police Department since 1983, serving as a patrol officer, shift commander/sergeant, commander/lieutenant and then division commander of investigations. He was sworn in as police chief in 2015.

“It has been my privilege to work with such an exceptional team in the Wheaton Police Department, and our residents should know that they have truly dedicated professionals working every day to serve and protect them. This has been a wonderful community to serve over the past 35 years, and I thank the community for their continued support of the Wheaton Police Department."

The City will conduct a search for Chief Volpe’s replacement later this spring.

“Our Police Department has a strong leadership structure in place that will allow us to continue to provide top-quality service to the Wheaton community without interruption as we transition to a new police chief,” said City Manager Dzugan.
