[ARCHIVED] Join City of Wheaton for September 11 Ceremony at Memorial Park

September 11 Ceremony

The City of Wheaton encourages the community to come together for Wheaton’s annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at Memorial Park, 225 N. Karlskoga Ave. This event pays tribute to the individuals our community lost in the September 11 attacks and the ensuing military conflicts, and it honors fire and police personnel.

In addition to remarks by Wheaton Mayor Philip Suess and Wheaton’s Fire and Police Departments, this year’s ceremony will include remarks by historian Bob Goldsborough, who will reflect on how September 11 touches our community, and music by Wheaton Municipal Band musicians, bagpiper Mike O’Donnell and Wheaton College.

The ceremony will take place in front of the Memorial Park Veterans Memorial on the north end of the park. We look forward to joining together as a community to remember all those we lost and honor those who sacrifice their lives to protect our community and our nation.

We extend a special thank you to the partners who are helping with this event, including the Wheaton Park District, Wheaton College, Wheaton Municipal Band, and flag display by Doodlebug Workshop.
