[ARCHIVED] Wheaton Police Respond to Residential Burglary

Police Badge

At approximately 10:06 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, Wheaton Police Officers responded to the 90 block of Muirfield Circle for a residential burglary in progress.

The homeowners related that an unknown subject wearing all black with a black ski mask shattered their glass back door and entered their residence. One of the homeowners confronted the suspect at the top of the stairs, and the suspect immediately fled down the stairs and exited the residence in an unknown direction.

The Wheaton Police Department is actively investigating this incident. We ask residents in the area of Muirfield Circle to check your security cameras and video doorbells for anything unusual that may assist with this investigation. We further encourage anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Patti Potter at ppotter@wheaton.il.us, or at 630-260-2059.

The Wheaton Police Department reminds all residents to call 9-1-1 when observing suspicious persons or suspicious vehicles. In addition, residents are encouraged to trim bushes/trees around your residence to discourage burglars from using them as hiding places. Check your exterior lighting for broken bulbs, dirty light covers and insufficient coverage. Repair, replace, clean and or install additional lights. Don't give criminals the cover of darkness to commit their criminal activities.
