[ARCHIVED] Reminder: Stuff the Squad for People's Resource Center TODAY

Stuff the Squad

The Wheaton Police Department encourages the community to help neighbors in need through a Stuff the Squad event. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, Wheaton Police encourage the community to visit the Wheaton Police Department at 900 W. Liberty Drive and help stuff a squad car full of food donations and other items needed by the People’s Resource Center for distribution to anyone in need. There is a box in the Police Department lobby for individuals who would like to drop off items but are unable to do so between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This program began last year as a way for the Wheaton Police Department to help take care of our community, inviting those who are able to join in this effort.

“We were astonished by the generosity of our community last year when we started this program,” said Community Engagement Officer Crystal Miroballi. “Unfortunately, there are still many families who need help, especially with climbing prices of food, gas and everything else. We welcome you to help us give back in a way that directly supports neighbors who need assistance.”

The types of items most needed for neighbors in need of assistance include:

Canned Food:  Tuna or Chicken, Canned Vegetables, Soup, Pork and beans, Legumes/beans, Spaghetti sauce, Canned Fruit, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise, Misc. Condiments

  • Dry Food: Rice, Pasta, Ground Coffee, Oatmeal
  • Personal Care Items: Shampoo, Body wash, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Deodorant, Bar soap, Liquid hand soap
  • Household Cleaning: Spray disinfectants like Clorox or Lysol, Laundry detergent, Dish soap, Disinfecting wipes
  • Diapers: Child Sizes: 4 and up; Baby wipes; Adult diapers: All sizes; Poise Pads
  • Feminine Hygiene: Tampons, Pads

The People’s Resource Center provides nutritious food, clothing and basic necessities to anyone in need of assistance, as well as connecting individuals with resources such as education, tutoring and more.

We look forward to seeing you on July 20.
