The Wheaton Police Department is seeking the community's assistance in identifying two suspects in business burglaries that occurred between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 at downtown businesses.
There was no forced entry in this incident, and entry was most likely gained from the next-door apartment building's open front door. The basement door was left open, which grants lower-level access to the businesses.
One business had more than $1,000 taken from cash deposit bags, and another business that shares the space had approximately $150 from the cash register and two unique Panama hats taken. The brim of the hats read "Republica del Cacao." Surveillance video was obtained, and a white male suspect appears to be wearing one of the stolen Panama hats. Anyone with information should contact Detective Opalinski at dopalinski@wheaton.il.us or 630-260-7887.
