At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2018, the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 30 Danada Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews identified heavy fire exiting from a second-floor window of the single-family residence at the location.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. While the occupants escaped the fire, the incident did result in the two occupants being transported to a local hospital for evaluation due to smoke inhalation. The occupants were alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors in the home.

Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department and Dupage County Fire Investigation Task Force conducted the fire investigation. While the exact cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, it is not suspicious in nature, and it appears that it may have been related to an electrical extension cord issue. Damage estimated are unavailable at this time.

The City of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities.

The building was turned back over to a representative for the property owner after the fire.
