On Friday, April 30, 137 more people received their first COVID-19 Moderna vaccine at the Wheaton Park District Community Center. The district worked together with Positive Health Services to bring a vaccine clinic to Wheaton.

"We are proud to provide this opportunity for the residents and will work towards providing another vaccine clinic when it becomes available for kids ages 12-15," said Michael Benard, Wheaton Park District Executive Director.

The two organizations provided an online registration portal for community members to register for the vaccine. It was open to anyone over the age of 18 who lived or worked in Wheaton.

On May 28, all who received their first shot will return for the second and final Moderna dose. Positive Health Services is an independent home health care agency located in the western suburbs that provides home health care services.

"The City of Wheaton is thrilled that the Wheaton Park District made this opportunity available for our residents to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, stated Wheaton Mayor Phil Suess. "It is important for the community to get vaccinated so we can protect one another and get back to more normal days. The Park District is a great partner in promoting the health and well-being of the Wheaton community, and we are happy to provide our support for this important event."
