[ARCHIVED] Fire Department Responds to Commercial Building Fire

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2020, the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in a building located in the 800 block of East Roosevelt Road. Upon arrival, fire crews identified heavy fire showing inside the business at the address. The business contained a repair shop for bicycles and vacuums.  

The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. The fire caused extensive damage to the center of the building along with the attic area. The business was closed at the time of the fire, and several dogs were safely assisted out of the building by emergency personnel. The incident did not result in any injuries.    

Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department along with the DuPage Fire Investigation Task Force conducted a fire investigation. The cause of the fire is undetermined and damage estimates are unavailable at this time. The City of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities. The building was turned back over to the owner after the fire.
