At approximately 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, residents in the 1700 block of East Evergreen were investigating suspicious activity outside of their residence when two men confronted one of the residents.

One suspect was armed with a firearm. The other suspect entered the home and attacked a member of the household. Another member of the household intervened in the attack, and the suspects then fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

One of the residents of the home sustained injuries that were not life-threatening from the attack.

The suspects were described as two male blacks in their late teens or possibly early 20s.

Wheaton Police encourage residents in the area to check their home video surveillance systems for potential information on the suspects or their vehicle. Anyone with information should call Lieutenant Bill Cooley, 630-260-2077 or Detective Ed Waterous at 630-260-2060.

The Wheaton Police Department encourages residents to call 9-1-1 if they encounter suspicious activity.
