The City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Police Department are aware of a planned protest march at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, starting near the intersection of Main and Front streets. Organizers have advertised this event as a peaceful protest. Protests of this nature are a protected form of the Constitutional right to free speech and assembly.
Participants are planning to walk on sidewalks. Vehicular traffic may experience some delays when the pedestrian groups are crossing intersections.
Organizers have shared this route:
- Starting from the plaza on Front Street near Main Street
- Heading north on Main Street
- West on Wesley Street
- South on Wheaton Avenue
- East on Front Street
The Wheaton Police Department will have officers present for everyone’s safety. We expect this will be a peaceful gathering and we respect the right of people to assemble peacefully, but we remind attendees that violent criminal acts will not be tolerated.
