police general photo

At approximately 3 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2020, Wheaton Police Officers responded to a crisis intervention incident in the 500 block of Westwood. The incident involved a firearm, which required a large police and fire response in the area for safety reasons.

Within 30 minutes, the situation was resolved successfully with no reported injuries. An individual was treated by Wheaton Fire Department paramedics and was transported to receive medical care.

Due to a large presence of emergency personnel responding to the area, Wheaton Police temporarily asked the public to avoid the area of Westwood and Manchester. This area is now clear, and drivers no longer need to avoid the area. Thank you for your cooperation.
