[ARCHIVED] Wheaton Police Department Gives Kids a Virtual Look Inside the PD

police car

Ordinarily in the spring, Wheaton Police Officers visit our community’s elementary schools to share with students what a police officer does and some of the different functions of the police department. With students now learning remotely for the safety of our community, the Wheaton Police Department is starting a series of videos to bring the Wheaton Police Department right to students’ computers or other devices.

Watch the first of the series, “Get to Know Your Police Department: Virtual Squad Car Tour.”

After you watch the video, the Wheaton Police Department wants to see students’ ideas for a police car design. Here’s how:

  1. Print out the design page at www.wheaton.il.us/policecar
  2. Students: Create your design by drawing/coloring/decorating the page
  3. Email your design (either take a picture or scan in your design) to the Wheaton Police Department at ppotter@wheaton.il.us by Friday, April 17. Please include your child’s first name, along with their school.

We will choose three designs to feature on the City’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and the three top entries will receive a special drive-up visit at their home with Wheaton police vehicles with lights and sirens!

We look forward to sharing this experience with Wheaton’s students, even if we can’t meet in person right now.
