At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in a building in the 30 hundred block of Danada Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews identified a fire on the second floor of a single-family residence. The fire was brought under control within minutes. The building was occupied at the time of the fire, and all occupants escaped safely.  The incident did not result in any injuries.

Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department conducted a fire investigation. The cause of the fire is deemed accidental and appears to be related to a candle in use. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time. The City of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities. The building was turned back over to the property owner after the fire.
