The Downtown Wheaton Association will be kicking off the holiday season with the Living Wheaton Christmas Parade on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019. Following the parade will be a tree-lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 30, and events each weekend through Dec. 21.
Parade
The Living Wheaton Christmas Parade will step off at Wheaton Avenue and Wesley Street on Friday, Nov. 29, in front of City Hall at 6 p.m. and will proceed:
- South on Wheaton Avenue to Front Street
- East on Front Street to Cross Street
From approximately 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, the following streets will be temporarily closed for the parade:
- Wheaton Avenue between Union Avenue and Front Street
- Wesley Street between Scott Street and Wheaton Avenue
- Hale Street between Liberty Drive and Union Street
- Front Street between Wheaton Avenue and Cross Street
- Cross Street between Willow Avenue & Wesley Street.
In addition, Karlskoga Avenue will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29. Please do not move the barricades or cones so we can ensure the safety of the parade participants. Uniformed officers will be present to assist and direct traffic. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and choose to alter their travel routes to avoid these areas.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Join the festivities of a new tradition in Wheaton. The official City of Wheaton Christmas Tree is moving to City Hall this year and is a tree that we can watch grow from year to year. The tree lighting will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, in front of Wheaton City Hall, 303 W Wesley Street.
Christmas Festival Weekends
The Downtown Wheaton Association will also be sponsoring holiday activities each weekend, including carriage rides through the downtown, cookie decorating, roaming entertainment and more on the following dates and times:
- Saturdays, Nov. 30-Dec. 21
- Noon-3 p.m.
