At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, Wheaton Police officers responded to the Sprint store, 212 Danada Square West, for a reported armed robbery. It is alleged that an individual wearing a mask and displaying a handgun forced store employees into a room, restrained them, and then took more than $40,000 worth of merchandise before fleeing the scene.

During the next 72 hours, Wheaton detectives actively investigated the robbery, which resulted in the arrest of Denzel D. Furance, of Calumet City, in Lansing, Illinois. With the assistance of Lansing Police Department officers, Calumet City Police Department officers and DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin's Office, Furance was charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm and three counts of aggravated unlawful restraint.
