Drivers have new convenient options for paying daily fee commuter parking now that the City has launched a new parking payment system. The system went live on Oct. 8.
Previously, users of the daily fee parking spaces in the City’s commuter lots and spaces near the City’s two Metra stations used either a pay box in the lots or street meters that only accepted coins. This new system replaces these with two payment options: using new digital kiosks or using the Passport Parking app on a mobile device.
Parking App
The City’s new system allows users to pay for daily fee parking using an app on your phone. Simply search for the Passport Parking app where you download apps for your phone or visit www.passportparking.com, and follow the directions to set up an account. Using the app will allow you to skip going to a kiosk. A convenience fee of $0.32 applies for payments using the parking app.
Payment Kiosks
New digital kiosks replace the daily fee pay boxes in the City’s commuter lots and some of the metered 12-hour parking spaces. Look for signs near these parking spaces for more information. The kiosks accept cash (exact change only) and credit cards. The kiosks are located:
Near the downtown train station:
• At the corner of Liberty & Carlton
Near the College Avenue train station:
• President Street where it meets the railroad tracks
• College Avenue train station (2 kiosks)
Please note that whichever way you choose to pay, you will need to know your license plate number, which you will enter either at the kiosk or on your mobile phone (if using the Passport Parking app).
