The Wheaton Fire Department recently learned that the Insurance Services Office raised its grading level for the City of Wheaton’s fire protection capabilities, rating Wheaton among the top 3% of fire departments across the nation.
The ISO’s Public Protection Classification involves a grading process every four years to establish personal and commercial property insurance rates. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the highest possible score for a community’s fire department, water system and 9-1-1 dispatch center, Wheaton moved from a grading of 3 to a rating of 2. The improved score will result in cost savings for applicable Wheaton property owners for their property insurance.
