[ARCHIVED] Sewer Testing in Backyards

sewer

The City has contracted with Midwest Water Group LLC to begin evaluating sanitary sewers that are in backyard easements the week of Oct. 23, 2017. This acoustic testing process evaluates the sewer pipes for their condition and ranks them according to their need for cleaning and further evaluation.

Should a crew need to access a manhole in your backyard, the City appreciates your cooperation in providing access and pet control as needed. Testing each pipe takes 10 to 20 minutes and will not require any interruption of service or require anything from homeowners. A member of the City’s Sewer Division staff will be with the contracted crew and can answer questions that residents may have.

City staff will use the results of this testing to prioritize which areas are in most need of sewer cleaning, TV inspection of the sewer pipes, or root cutting where necessary.

If you have any questions, call Sewer Superintendent Mike Jankovic at 630-260-2107 or email mjankovic@wheaton.il.us.
