ORIGINAL POST:

The evening of Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, the Wheaton Police Department responded to a call referencing a possible threat to student safety at St. Francis High School. The threat is alleged to have circulated on social media. The Wheaton Police Department continues to investigate. Below is a statement from St. Francis High School:

Dear Parents,

I write to let you know that earlier this evening the Wheaton police received a call of an alleged threat of violence circulating on social media made against St. Francis High School to occur later this week. They are actively conducting an investigation and St. Francis High School leadership is actively cooperating with the investigation.

I have alerted the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of this situation. Please be assured that our first and highest priority is the safety and well-being of your children, our students, the faculty, staff, and volunteers at St. Francis High School.

At this point there is no reason to cancel school tomorrow (Monday, August 27) for compromised safety. School will be open and operating on a normal schedule.

I will of course keep you informed of any developments in a timely manner.

Thank you,

Dr. Betsy Ackerson
