Electronic Recycling at Temporary Location Saturday
The City’s monthly electronic recycling drop-off will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Commuter Lot 9, located at Carlton & Liberty Drive. Please note that due to this temporary location, the City will not be able to accept cooking oil, scrap metal, or fluorescent tubes. We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for the inconvenience. Also please note that there is a fee to recycle TVs and monitors. See the City’s website for more information.
Library Card Sign-Up Month
Stop by the library during the month of September to learn what a library card can do for you. Show your Wheaton Public Library card at participating businesses to get discounts and gifts. Complete the library’s Toy Story 4 scavenger hunt, and sign-up or renew your WPL card for a chance to win a prize.
Historic Bike Tour Planned for Sept. 21
The Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Commission will lead a Historic Bike Tour through Wheaton from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. The focus will be the Underground Railroad in Wheaton. The approximately 6-mile family ride will travel along streets named for famous Wheaton abolitionists, and the ride will include guest speakers and special advisors Glennette Tilley Turner and Dennis Rodkin. To take part, meet on the west side of the Wheaton Public Library, and be sure to complete the safety waiver on the City’s website. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date will be Sept. 28 at 2 p.m.
