Celebrating Women's History Month: 2024 Women of Wheaton

Women’s History Month is a dedicated month to reflect on and celebrate the contributions of women to history, culture, and society. Wheaton's Community Relations Commission encourages the community to learn about some of the women who continue to make Wheaton an incredible place through viewing the 2024 Women of Wheaton list.

This year's Women of Wheaton theme focused on local artists. The profiles feature artists from the We Are Women Art Exhibit, DuPage Art League, local high schools, and the Stars Family Services Art Studio.

Parked Cars

Reminder: Parking Fee Changes Effective April 1

On April 1, several changes go into effect for the City’s leased and daily fee parking that will affect commuters, downtown employees, and garage permit holders. The City has not adjusted parking rates in more than 15 years for most types of parking, and these changes are needed to fund the upkeep of City-maintained parking lots, public garages, and street parking.

In summary, the City is introducing premium daily fee parking zones for spaces closest to both train stations, an increase of $0.50 per day for many daily fee parking spaces, and adjustments to leased parking permit fees. Please visit the City's website for detailed information regarding the parking fee changes.

Scammers Contacting Wheaton Businesses

There have been reports regarding scammers contacting Wheaton-based businesses, falsely claiming to be ComEd and threatening to cut off power to the business location. These scammers then ask for payment information such as Zelle, Venmo, or your business’ banking information. While these types of scams are certainly not new, this is a friendly reminder to make sure your staff is informed on how to handle such phone calls or visits to your business. ComEd will never call or come to your business to threaten to disconnect service. Learn more by visiting ComEd’s Imposters & Scams webpage.
