ComEd Launches New EV Charger and Installation Rebate Program

ComEd recently launched the EV Charger and Installation Rebate Program. Through this program, ComEd customers can receive rebates of up to $3,750 to offset the cost of purchasing and installing a Level 2 charger in their home in 2024. To qualify, customers who live in a single-family home, or multi-family home with two units or less, must demonstrate purchase of a Level 2 charger on or after Feb. 1, 2024. For more information and to apply, visit ComEd.com/clean.

Note to Wheaton residents: The City of Wheaton would like to remind you that a permit is required to install an electric vehicle charger. There are several aspects that need to be considered regarding the installation of these chargers, such as proper wiring and circuit breaker sizing, proper electric service size to handle the additional electrical demand, and adequate electrical service panel space for safe circuit installation. These safety considerations will be addressed and inspected as part of the permit process. Please visit the City's website for more information regarding permit requirements.
