Temporary Traffic Pattern Change for Entrance and Exit to City Hall Parking Lot

A temporary traffic change will be in place through approximately July 18 while crews replace the concrete entrance and exit to the City Hall parking lot on Wheaton Avenue. All traffic into the City Hall parking lot is required to enter from Wesley Street (just west of City Hall). All traffic must exit onto Wheaton Avenue, and the Wheaton Avenue driveway will be marked as exit-only. This one-way traffic pattern will allow crews to replace one half of the driveway at a time, keeping one lane of traffic open at all times.

Help Deter Coyotes: Do Not Feed Wild Animals

Please do your part to make sure wild animals such as coyotes are not fed - either intentionally or unintentionally. Feeding wild animals abnormally attracts coyotes and promotes increased numbers of rodents, birds and other creatures that can provide major portions of the coyote’s natural diet. Feeding wild animals such as coyotes and feral cats violates City Code, and violators can face fines. For more information, visit the City's website.

Mosquitoes in Wheaton Test Positive for West Nile Virus

The DuPage County Health Department confirmed that batches of mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile Virus for the first time this year in DuPage County, including in Wheaton, Wood Dale and Medinah. No human cases have been recorded in DuPage County this year to date, however recent dry weather provided an ideal environment for mosquitoes that spread West Nile Virus. You can protect yourself by:

  • Draining items that collect standing water around your home, yard or business.
  • Use insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors.
  • Wear long pants, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes when outdoors.
  • If outdoors during prime times for mosquito activity, especially dusk to dawn, wear mosquito repellent outdoors and reapply according to directions.
