Crews Filling Cracks on Several StreetsCrews are filling cracks on portions of Main Street, President Street, Harrison Avenue and Blanchard Street over the next two weeks. Work hours are between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. These streets will remain open, but traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel using temporary daily lane closures. Affected road segments include: - Main Street, from Seminary Avenue to Cole Avenue
- Harrison Avenue, from Gary Avenue to College Avenue
- President Street, from Geneva Road to Harrison Avenue
- President Street, from Roosevelt Road to Blanchard Street
- Blanchard Street, from President Street to Hawkins Circle
The crack-sealing program is part of the City's road maintenance program to increase the longevity of roads.
Drivers in the project area should be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, watch for construction workers and construction vehicles, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation to help ensure the safety of crews and other drivers on the road. You can see a map of the affected street segments on the City’s website.

Resurfacing & Other Road Work PlannedEach year, the City designates a part of the annual budget to resurface/reconstruct roadways, replace water mains and replace curbs. This work is done by both the Public Works Department, which addresses spot repairs and some street segments, and an outside contractor, who completes the City’s Annual Road Program work. You will soon see improvements underway in several areas.
There are three areas receiving complete reconstruction, which is the most extensive type of work. These areas will include: - Front Street from Wesley to Gary Avenue
- Papworth Street from Thomas Road to Wheaton North High School
- Reber Street from Willow Avenue to Illinois Street.
Several other areas will be resurfaced or rehabilitated, including parts of the Danada East and Danada West subdivision, Fapp Circle, Front Street from Gary to West Street, and Liberty Drive from Commerce Avenue to West Street. Numerous other street sections that will be repaired by the Public Works Department are also listed on the City’s website. You can see all of the areas on the City’s website at www.wheaton.il.us/roads.
The start date of some this work has been delayed by a labor strike affecting the local concrete and asphalt industries. Once these materials become available, the City will be able to begin this work as planned.

Approximately 150 residents attended and had an opportunity to speak one-on-one with officers. Children and their families played sports, colored and participated in several raffles sponsored by Milton Township.
