Program for New Sidewalks
The City is working on a multi-year program to add sidewalks on at least one side of every street to increase safety for pedestrians and improve the walkability of our community. City staff identified approximately 95 areas in Wheaton that will receive sidewalks through a multi-year program. You can see the presentation of this program to the City Council here.
Spring 2023 Sidewalk Areas (Postponed from Fall 2022)
The following areas will receive sidewalks on one side of the street:
- Avery Avenue, from Summit Street to the existing sidewalk west of Wood Street (PDF)
- Beecher Avenue, from Westwood Drive to Birch Drive (PDF)
- Birch Drive from Beecher Avenue to Manchester Road (PDF)
- Crest Street, from Parkside Drive to Lakeside Drive (PDF)
- Daly Road, from Stoddard Avenue to Summit Street (PDF)
- Driving Park Road, from Geneva Road to Washington Street (PDF)
- Elm Street, from Aurora Way to Greenwood Drive (PDF)
- George Street, from Main Street to Gamon Road (PDF)
- Greenwood Drive, from Lynwood Lane to the existing sidewalk to the north (PDF)
- Indiana Street, from the existing sidewalk east of Sunnyside Avenue to the existing sidewalk west of West Street (PDF)
- Kay Road, from Glencoe Street to the cul-de-sac (PDF)
- Lakeside Drive, from Crest Street to Delles Road (PDF)
- Myrtlewood Lane, from Roosevelt Road to the existing sidewalk south of Lakeside Drive (PDF)
