Rail Safety Week
Did you know that in 2018, there were 263 rail crossing deaths and 541 rail trespassing deaths in the U.S., with Illinois ranking among the top 5 states for fatalities? The Wheaton Police Department, Metra and many law enforcement agencies will take part in Illinois Rail Safety Week Sept. 22-28. This statewide effort works to improve railroad safety through education, enforcement and engineering, with a goal of saving lives and preventing injuries. To raise awareness and enforce violations, Wheaton Police Officers will be out at Wheaton railroad crossings and train stations during the week of Sept. 22-28.
Watering Restrictions End
Annual lawn watering restrictions ended Sept. 15. However, the City still encourages you to use water conservation practices, such as avoid watering during the hottest part of the day, when it can evaporate more quickly.
