Note Road Closures During Race on Saturday
The 2019 College Church Run for the Stars 5K Race will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2019, beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding at 10 a.m. Please note these road closures during the race, and do not move barricades to ensure the safety of the participants. During the events, these streets will be adequately staffed with uniformed Police Officers to assist and direct traffic.
Wheaton Municipal Band Summer Concerts are Back
Enjoy free Thursday night concerts in Memorial Park with the Wheaton Municipal Band. The season begins tomorrow with a concert at 7:30. Each concert features different music. For more information, see the Wheaton Municipal Band’s website.
Firefighters Respond to House Fire
At approximately 8 a.m. on Friday, May 31 the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 0N300 block of Papworth in unincorporated Wheaton. Upon arrival, fire crews identified heavy fire at the rear of the single-family dwelling with fire rapidly extending to the second floor and attic. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. For more information, see the City’s website.
Library Hosting Ice Cream Social to Kick Off Summer Reading Program
Help the Wheaton Public Library kick off Summer Reading with free ice cream on the library’s West Plaza from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The library is located at 225 N Cross Street. Featuring live music by Steel Crazy Steelband and a bubble truck, no registration is required for this event. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors.
Free Car Seat Safety Event
The Wheaton Police Department will be doing free car seat safety checks from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Kids Urgent Care, located at 290 West Loop Road. Certified safety personnel will assist residents with the proper installation of car seats to ensure they are used safely. No registration is required, and the event is free and open to the public.

Get ready for a new event in downtown Wheaton making its debut on June 21. Make Music Wheaton is part of Make Music Day, a global music celebration that takes place on the summer solstice each year and brings people of all ages and skill levels together to make music. Wheaton is one of only two Illinois cities that will host thousands of Make Music performances as part of the world’s largest annual music event. Different from a typical musical festival, Make Music concerts are performed by anyone who wants to take part. From classical to folk, hip hop to opera, jazz to rock, live music of all kinds resounds on streets, sidewalks, porches, parks, stores and other public spaces on the longest day of the year.
