See these safety suggestions and red flags that will help you identify scams during the holidays.?
Fire Department Responds to House Fire
At approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 600 block of Franklin Street. Upon arrival, fire crews identified heavy fire on the exterior of the chimney for a single-family residence with the fire extending to the interior. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. All occupants safely escaped the building and the incident did not result in any injuries.?More information on this incident is available on the City’s website.

Holiday Garbage Schedule
Due to the Christmas holiday, Lakeshore Recycling Systems will not collect garbage or recycling on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018 or Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019. All pickups will be one day later than usual for Tuesday through Friday routes during the weeks of Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
City Offices Closed
Non-emergency City of Wheaton offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 24 & 25, 2018. Offices will also be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.
