Downtown Train Station Reopens
Repairs are complete on the downtown Wheaton train station, which previously sustained damage from a fire. The waiting area and bathrooms are now open for public use. Train tickets can be purchased online at www.metrarail.com. Metra hopes to resume ticket sales inside the station soon.
Events Honor Veterans Day
Two events in Wheaton will honor the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI. On Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10:40 a.m., the Wheaton American Legion will host a ceremony in Memorial Park including students from Lowell Elementary School, American Legion color guard and rifle salute.
At 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, Tunes of Glory will join bagpipes from around the world in playing at the same time to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the end of WWI. This will take place at the obelisk at Northside Park.
Workshops Will Discuss City Budget
If you would like to learn about the City’s proposed Fiscal Year 2019 Budget, attend the City’s Budget Workshop Sessions, which will take place:
- 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10
- 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12
- 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17
During the sessions, which will take place in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 303 W Wesley Street, City staff and the City Council will discuss and review the proposed City budget for the upcoming fiscal year. This upcoming budget will match the calendar year, as the City has transitioned from a May to April fiscal year to a calendar year budget starting with this budget. The draft budget is now available on the City’s website.

Library Holiday Book & Art Sale
The Friends of the Wheaton Public Library Holiday Book & Art Sale will run November 8-11 during library hours at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N Cross Street. The sale features collectibles, like-new gift books, autographed copies, nostalgia items, quality children’s books, Book-Lover’s calendars, unique gifts, as well as framed and unframed art.
