Train Station Fire Update 

The Wheaton Metra Station at 402 W Front Street remains closed following a fire the evening of Nov. 22. The City of Wheaton is working with Metra and Union Pacific Railroad to coordinate the necessary repairs, which are expected to take place over the next 45 days. Once temporary repairs can be made, the commuter waiting and ticket areas will be reopened. City Seeks Plan Examiner 

The City seeks applicants for a Plan Examiner position. This position is primarily responsible for reviewing building plans and specification to ensure proposed construction complies with all adopted code requirements and ordinances. To find out more or to apply, visit the City's website. 

Final Week for Yard Waste Pickup 

The week of Dec. 11 will be Lakeshore Recycling Systems' final pickup for yard waste, leaves, food scraps and organics this season. The final pickup will be on your normal garbage pickup day. Place leaves/yard waste/organics in biodegradable bags or containers no larger than 35 gallons in size. Each bag/container needs a yard waste sticker. Questions about yard waste or garbage pickup? Visits with Santa & Holiday Carriage Rides 

Head to downtown Wheaton to visit Santa or take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the downtown. From noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 23, the Downtown Wheaton Association will host these complimentary events in Martin Memorial Plaza, located on Front Street just west of Main Street.
