Holiday Garbage Schedules & City Office Closures

Please note these key dates related to the upcoming holidays and the City of Wheaton.

Garbage/Recycling Holiday Schedules:

For residents served by LRS, there will be no pickup on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1. If your regular pickup day is Thursday or Friday, your pickup will be one day later the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29.

City Office Closures:

  • Non-emergency City offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 1.

Christmas Tree at the Curb

Christmas Tree Recycling Begins Next Week

For residents served by LRS, free curbside Christmas tree recycling for live trees will be available on your regular garbage pickup day during the weeks of Dec. 29 and Jan. 5.

After this free collection period, trees will require one garbage/organic LRS sticker to be picked up. 

Please remove all decorations, place the tree at the curb, and do not place it in a bag.

How to Request Overnight Parking in Wheaton

If you’re expecting overnight visitors this holiday season, please remember that parking on all City of Wheaton streets is prohibited between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. unless you receive prior approval. Vehicles parked overnight without approval will be ticketed.

If you or your guests need to park on the street during these hours, you can conveniently submit an overnight parking request online.

Important Reminders:

  • All requests must be received at least one hour before the 2 a.m. deadline. Requests submitted after 2 a.m. will result in a parking ticket.
  • Each household may request overnight parking up to three times within a 30-day period.
  • Overnight parking will not be granted when there is snowfall of 2" or more.

Adams Park with Christmas Lights and People Walking

Holiday Sites in Wheaton: Nights of Lights in Adams Park & Downtown Christmas Tree

Night of Lights brings Adams Park to life with more than 55,000 twinkling lights and a festive animated fountain display. Nights of Lights is open daily from 4-10 p.m. through Jan. 4.

While you’re downtown, don’t miss the Downtown Wheaton Christmas Tree, located at the pavilion near Liberty Drive & Main Street. The tree shines from 4-10 p.m. daily through Jan. 4.
