Wheaton Kicks off the Holidays on Friday, Nov. 29The City of Wheaton and Downtown Wheaton Association have an exciting lineup of beloved community events this week. To start the season, Friday, Nov. 29 will be filled with the return of cherished holiday traditions: - Nights of Lights Begins: For its fifth year, Nights of Lights returns to Adams Park! Join us for the park lighting on Nov. 29 at 4:30 p.m. and enjoy the park’s light display throughout the holiday season. This event is open to the public at no cost.
- Wheaton Christmas Parade: The tradition continues; join the Downtown Wheaton Association for the annual Wheaton Christmas Parade on Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. The parade will travel from Wheaton Avenue at Wesley Street south to Front Street, turning east (left) on Front Street, and finishing at Cross Street.
- Downtown Wheaton Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony: Join the Downtown Wheaton Association for the second annual Downtown Wheaton Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the pavilion near Liberty Drive and Main Street, immediately following the parade at 7 p.m.

Christmas Parade Road Closures & Parking RestrictionsPlease keep in mind the following road closures and parking restrictions for the annual Christmas Parade: Parade Road Closures Please visit the City's website for a map of the road closures related to the Christmas Parade. - On Thursday, Nov. 28 at approximately 9 p.m. to Friday, Nov. 29 at approximately 8 p.m., the following street will be temporarily closed:
- Karlskoga Avenue between Wheaton Avenue and Hale Street
- On Friday, Nov. 29 from approximately 4-8 p.m., the following street will be temporarily closed:
- Wheaton Avenue between Union Avenue and Wesley Street
- On Friday, Nov. 29 from approximately 5-8 p.m., the following streets will be temporarily closed:
- Wheaton Avenue between Wesley Street and Front Street
- Wesley Street between Wheaton Avenue and West Street
- Front Street between West Street and Cross Street
- Hale Street between Liberty Drive and Front Street
- Main Street between Liberty Drive and Seminary Avenue
- Cross Street between Wesley Street and Front Street

Thanksgiving Garbage Collection & City Office Holiday ClosuresThere will be no garbage collection on Thursday, Nov. 28. Pickup will be delayed by one day for residents whose regular collection day is Thursday or Friday. Additionally, City offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Registration is open now through Dec. 12. Showcase your fun, creative, out-of-the-box outdoor decorating ideas in what has quickly become one of Wheaton’s favorite holiday traditions. All Wheaton residents, businesses, houses of worship and community organizations are invited to participate in this free, friendly competition — all themes and holidays welcome!
