Temporary Lane Closures Planned at Naperville Road and Roosevelt Road TodayBetween 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, drivers should expect delays near the intersection of Naperville Road and Roosevelt Road. Water service work for a new development at the southwest corner of this intersection will require intermittent lane closures. Naperville Road may be reduced to one lane in each direction. Please use caution when driving in this area. Drivers may want to use an alternate route during this time.

Electronic Recycling this SaturdayBring unwanted electronics to the monthly electronic recycling collection on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Storage Yard, 820 W. Liberty Drive. This is a drive-through event where volunteers will help unload items from your car. There is a charge for all TVs and monitors at this event. Hale Street ReopenedAs nights turn colder, the tents on Hale Street have been removed for the season, and Hale Street has reopened to traffic between Front and Wesley streets. Thanks to all of our restaurants throughout the downtown and elsewhere for providing fantastic outdoor dining and entertainment experiences for the community throughout the warmer months.

2025 Municipal Election Candidate Filing Period is Oct. 21 through Oct. 28The Office of the City Clerk, local election official for the City of Wheaton, at 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, IL, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 through Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, excluding weekend days and holidays, to accept Nonpartisan Primary Candidate Petitions for Nomination for the Consolidated Primary Election to be held, if necessary, Feb. 25, 2025 and the Consolidated General Election to be held April 1, 2025, for the following offices: - Councilmember – North District (1 position)

Register for the Cemeteries of Wheaton History TalkJoin local historians Brian & Joyce Ostberg, creators of the YouTube channel BeHistoric, on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. for the Cemeteries of Wheaton History Talk. Survey the cemeteries and funerary grounds of Wheaton and learn about their locations, origins, usage, and noteworthy memorials. Provided in partnership with the City of Wheaton Historic Commission and Wheaton Public Library. This program is part of the library's Halloween series. Registration is required.

Reminder: Overnight Sewer Inspections/Cleaning Planned in Downtown Wheaton Now through Oct. 10Crews are completing sewer inspections and cleaning during overnight hours now through Oct. 10. The work is taking place between Union Avenue to the north, Cross Street to the east, Liberty Drive to the south, and West Street to the west. Public Works Sewer Division crews are completing this work between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to minimize disruption to traffic and local businesses. There are temporary lane closures to accommodate equipment. Please use caution if you are driving in the area. The Sewer Division cleans and inspects the City's downtown sewers on a rotating basis to keep them operating smoothly and identify any areas needing attention. We appreciate your patience as crews complete this work.
