Crews to Apply Surface Treatment to Some Wheaton StreetsWeather permitting, crews contracted by the City will be applying a surface treatment to prolong the life of Wheaton’s asphalt roadways in some areas on Aug. 1 and Aug. 6. Aug. 1: - Ashton Court, from Wilmette Street to Glencoe Street
- Madsen Court, from Wilmette Street to Glencoe Street
- Marion Court, cul-de-sac off Glencoe Street
- Wendover Lane, cul-de-sac off Summit Street
- Hickory Lane, from Vernon Avenue to White Oak Drive
- Vernon Avenue, from Childs Street to Hickory Lane
- Maple Leaf Court, cul-de-sac off White Oak Drive
- Sussex Lane, from Cambridge Lane to Nottingham Lane
- Secretariat Court, cul-de-sac off Winners Cup Circle
- Palamino Place, cul-de-sac off Winners Cup Circle
- Whirlaway Court, cul-de-sac off Danada Drive
- Helen Court, cul-de-sac off Danada Drive
Aug. 6: - Nottingham Lane, from Brentwood Lane to Windsor Drive
- Danada Drive, south of Brighton Drive
- Winners Cup Circle, north of Brighton Drive
- Hampton Drive, from Brighton Drive to Chatham Drive
- White Oak Drive, from Manchester Road to cul-de-sac
While all streets in the work areas will remain open, we ask that residents in the affected areas do not park on the street between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., until crews apply the product. Once crews have applied the treatment, we recommend not returning your car onto the driveway in the 1-2 hours after it is applied to your street to avoid tracking the surface treatment onto your driveway. We appreciate your cooperation as we work to prolong the life of Wheaton’s roads.

Reminder to Keep Items Out of the ParkwayWe need your help to make our community safer for pedestrians and drivers by keeping parkways clear of items that can block sightlines and distract drivers. Signs, banners, balloons, ribbons, flyers or other items are not allowed to be placed in the parkway (the City-owned property generally located between the sidewalk and curb, which contains underground utilities) because they can block driver/pedestrian sightlines and create a distraction for drivers. This includes not placing or tying items on City trees, light poles, street signs, utility boxes or staking signs or items into the ground in the parkway. In addition to creating a safety hazard, placing items in the parkway violates City Code. If you currently have any such items in the parkway, please move them onto private property. Thank you for your assistance in making our community a safer place for drivers and pedestrians.

ComEd to Perform Tree Trimming in Select AreasWithin the next three months, ComEd will trim trees, branches, and vines that interfere or have the potential to interfere with power lines. This work helps prevent safety hazards and power outages. The work is generally located along Wiesbrook Road from Butterfield Road to Leabrook Lane. Residents who are in affected areas will receive a notice from ComEd regarding this work. You can also view a map of impacted areas in Wheaton by visiting the City's website. In some cases, tree removal may be required. The remaining tree stumps are treated with an approved herbicide to prevent future regrowth. Herbicide will be applied by state-licensed applicators. All work is performed by trained, qualified arborists. For more information, visit ComEd.com/Trees or call 1-800-Edison-1 (1-800-334-7661).
