Christmas trees will be recycled now through Friday, Jan. 12 at no charge on your garbage pickup day for residents served by LRS. During this free collection period, make sure trees are free of all decorations and are not in plastic bags. After the free collection period, you will need to attach one garbage/organic sticker to a Christmas tree to have it collected. Please note that all pickups during the week of Jan. 1 will be delayed by one day due to the New Year’s Day observed holiday.
Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule & City Office Closures
There will be no garbage collection on Monday, Jan. 1. Pickup will be delayed by one day for all routes this week. Additionally, non-emergency City offices will be closed on this day for the New Year’s Day observed holiday.
Holiday Light Recycling Available Until Jan. 19
Wheaton’s holiday light recycling program is available now through Friday, Jan. 19. Bring strands of incandescent or LED lights in any condition to the Public Works Storage Facility at 820 W. Liberty Drive between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. This program is for light strings only. Please do not drop off lawn ornaments or other decorations, and do not put lights in a bag or box. City of Wheaton Overnight Parking Reminders
Do you have family or friends staying over for the holidays? Don't forget that parking on any City street is prohibited from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. each day. If you need to park on a City street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., you must either submit a request online before 1 a.m., or call the Police Department at 630-260-2161 to report the vehicle on the street.
Vacation House Watch Service Available to Residents
Taking a vacation during the holiday season? Vacation House Watch is a police service that helps protect unoccupied homes while Wheaton residents are away on business or travel. Police will inspect homes periodically to help ensure their security. To enroll, please submit a Vacation House Watch form by visiting the City's website.
