Thank You for Attending the September 11 Remembrance Ceremony Thank you to everyone who participated in Monday's September 11 Remembrance Ceremony in Memorial Park, including students from Community Unit School District 200's Longfellow Elementary School, Wheaton Municipal Band, Wheaton College, Wheaton Police & Fire Department Honor Guard, and Wheaton Police and Fire Departments. Special thank you to Wheaton Park District for providing the beautiful setting for this meaningful event. We also appreciate the community members who attended to honor the individuals in our community lost in the September 11 attacks, those lost in the military conflicts that followed, and first responders. The Famous Women of Wheaton History Bike Tour to Take Place this SaturdayRide and learn about the great women in Wheaton history this Saturday, Sept. 16 from 2-4 p.m., meeting at the Wheaton Library West Plaza, 225 N. Cross St. Bob Goldsborough, longtime Wheaton resident, amateur historian, and current writer for the Chicago Tribune, will lead a leisurely bicycle tour to the former homes of these women and provide historical commentary at each site. As a reminder: - This tour is open to cyclists of all levels and ages
- Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- All riders must provide their own bicycle and wear a bike helmet

Community Encouraged to Attend Festival of Cultures this SundayDon’t miss the Festival of Cultures this Sunday, Sept. 17 from 1-5 p.m. at Memorial Park. This free, family-friendly event features entertainment, a passport activity for kids, cultural booths, storytelling and food trucks. City to Honor Outgoing Chief during Sept. 18 City Council Meeting; Community Invited to Attend Retirement ReceptionPolice Chief Bill Murphy will retire at the end of September, concluding his 33-year career with the Wheaton Police Department. During the Sept. 18, 2023 City Council meeting, the City will honor Chief Murphy for his many years of service. The community is welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St. Prior to the meeting, the City will host a retirement reception from 6-6:45 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.

Ribfest hosted by Exchange Club of Naperville to Take Place this WeekendRibfest will take place Sept. 15-17 at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road. This event blends community, entertainment, and award-winning ribs from vendors across the country. With concerts and delicious food, Ribfest is great for all to enjoy! Temporary Road Closure on Sept. 20 for Wheaton Warrenville South High School Homecoming ParadeOn Wednesday, Sept. 20, Wiesbrook Road between Muirfield Circle and Butterfield Road will be temporarily closed from 5:30-7 p.m. for Wheaton Warrenville South High School's homecoming parade. Residents, citizens, and motorists are being asked for their cooperation in not moving the barricades to ensure the safety of the participants. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and choose to alter their travel routes to avoid these areas.

Public Meeting to Discuss Proposed Stormwater Utility Fee ChangesThe City will be hosting its second public meeting to provide information, answer questions and collect feedback from the public about proposed changes to how the City charges stormwater utility fees. Senior Assistance Program Application Deadline Approaching on Friday, Sept. 22The City of Wheaton is now accepting applications for the Senior Assistance Program, an annual program administered through the City’s Commission on Aging that provides monthly financial assistance to qualifying seniors. Residents Encouraged to Participate in the Law Enforcement Exploring ProgramLaw Enforcement Exploring is a hands-on program open to young adults who have completed the 6th grade through 20 years old, interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system.
