Light Up Wheaton Holiday Decorating Contest Registration Closes Dec. 9

Are you ready to show off your holiday spirit and make Wheaton shine? The City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Park District are once again teaming up for the Light Up Wheaton holiday decorating contest for residents, businesses, churches and organizations. Participants can compete for prizes and be added to the official tour map of participating locations. To enter the Light Up Wheaton contest and be added to the tour map, register through the Wheaton Park District at www.wheatonparkdistrict.com/lightupwheaton by Friday, Dec. 9.

General Overnight Parking Reminders

Parking on all City streets is prohibited without prior approval between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. If you need to park your vehicle on a City street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., you must submit a request online. No street parking is allowed after 2 inches of accumulated snow, and vehicles must be relocated off City streets.

Look who's back from the North Pole to check on her favorite city: It's Wendy the Wheaton Elf! Be on the lookout for updates on Wendy on the City's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts as she travels throughout Wheaton this holiday season.

Report Potholes Online

Severe weather changes and temperature fluctuation can wreak havoc on pavement. You can help by reporting potholes to the City's Public Works Department. Treating potholes before they become a large issue can help prevent further damage. Use the City's online reporting tool at wheaton.il.us/request to report potholes.

Community Relations Commission's Charitable Giving Tree

Looking for ways to give back this holiday season? Stop by the Community Relations Commission's Charitable Giving Tree on the southeast corner of Hale & Liberty in Downtown Wheaton and take an ornament featuring items to donate to local families and organizations in need. The tree and donations will be up through the end of December.

Wesley Street Returns to One-way Traffic

The project to reconstruct Front Street from West Street to Gary Avenue is now complete. Wesley Street is returning back to one-way traffic starting Dec. 12.

Now Accepting Crossing Guard Applicants

We need your help to keep our community's students safe. Are you retired or a stay-at-home parent who's looking to make some extra money to help make ends meet? Or are you looking to give back to your community in a meaningful way? The City of Wheaton and Community Unit School District 200 are in immediate need of crossing guards to help ensure Wheaton's children get to and from school safely. Our crossings are only 30 minutes long. At $17.54 per crossing, that's more than $35 dollars an hour, and you will be providing a much-needed service to the community!
