Enter Light Up Wheaton Holiday Decorating Contest

Are you ready to show off your holiday spirit and make Wheaton shine? The City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Park District are once again teaming up for the Light Up Wheaton holiday decorating contest for residents, businesses, churches and organizations. Participants can compete for prizes (and bragging rights) and be added to the official tour map of participating locations. To enter the Light Up Wheaton contest and be added to the tour map, register through the Wheaton Park District at www.wheatonparkdistrict.com/lightupwheaton by Friday, Dec. 9.

Metra train

Metra to expand service on UP West Line

The Metra UP West Line will have expanded options when a new pilot schedule goes into effect on Monday, Dec. 5. Metra will be adding 18 trains (nine inbound and nine outbound) to its weekday service, for a total of 58 trains from the current 40. The new UP-W schedule offers more consistent service patterns and departure times, making the schedule easier for customers to understand and memorize.

Holiday Light Recycling Reminder

Wheaton’s holiday light recycling program is back
now through Friday, Jan. 20. Bring strands of incandescent or LED lights in any condition to the Public Works Storage Facility at 820 W. Liberty Drive between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. This program is for light strings only. Please do not drop off lawn ornaments or other decorations, and do not put lights in a bag or box.

New Xfinity Store Celebrates Grand Opening

Mayor Suess and Councilman Weller helped Comcast open their new Wheaton Xfinity store at 1 Rice Lake Square, along Butterfield Road just east of Naperville Road. The store includes displays with Xfinity's products and services, such as mobile phone service, high-speed internet and cable TV, home security platform and more. In addition, Comcast customers can pay bills, pick up and return equipment and get assistance from service representatives at this store. Welcome to Wheaton!

Reindeer Run 5K to be held December 3

Get your holiday cheer on in the most festive, active environment imaginable during the 11th annual Lions Club Reindeer Run 5K on Saturday, Dec. 3 in Downtown Wheaton starting at 8:30 a.m. Presented by the Wheaton Park District and Lions Club Charities, this is a chip-timed race. Overall winners and individual age category winners are determined by chip time. Participants receive a long-sleeve t-shirt and antlers. There are parking garages located on Wesley between Wheaton and Hale and another on Willow between Cross and Main. As a reminder, there are temporary road closures during the event from approximately 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for this event. For more information, visit the City of Wheaton's website.

Take the Jolly Trolley on Saturday to Shop Local

For one day only, Saturday, December 3, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., the Downtown Wheaton Association and Town Square Wheaton are partnering to bring you the Jolly Trolley… a Christmas-themed trolley shuttling shoppers between Downtown Wheaton and Town Square.
