Wheaton Fire Department Responds to Townhome Fire

fire station 38

At approximately 7 p.m. on Feb. 15, 2021, the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Raven Hill. Upon arrival, fire crews identified heavy fire in the rear of an end unit townhome residence with fire extending to the attic. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

The occupants of the residence were inside the home at the time of the fire and they discovered the fire. The occupants safely escaped without injuries. The fire caused extensive damage to the structure and it was deemed uninhabitable.

Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department conducted a fire investigation. The exact cause of the fire is deemed undetermined at this time, but it does not appear to be suspicious in nature. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time. The City of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities.

The residence was turned back over to the property owner after the fire. Only the occupants of the original fire unit were displaced, and all other occupants were allowed to return to their homes.
