Update on Roosevelt Road Corridor Study

City Hall winter

The City of Wheaton has been working with Camiros Ltd. to prepare a Roosevelt Road Corridor/Comprehensive Plan Update for the nearly two-mile-long corridor extending from Carlton Avenue on the west to the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn border on the east (just past Lorraine Road). Based on community and staff input of the initial Roosevelt Road Corridor/Comprehensive Plan Update in the fall of 2019, Camiros created a redraft, and the next steps involve sharing the new draft with the community with multiple opportunities for public engagement and feedback.

Covid-19 has prevented the City from holding in-person public engagement meetings for a number of months. While the City explored the possibility of holding these live meetings online with public participation, we do not believe the virtual engagement approach to review the new draft will achieve the same level of engagement from the community. The City will continue to postpone this process until pandemic mitigation restrictions permit in-person public engagement meetings and the community can fully participate in the process.

The City will continue to notify the community about this project and intends to begin the public in-person engagement process as soon as we are able to safely do so.
